Afrim Gashi’s BESA tasked with managing the Ministry of Culture

BESA Movement will join the parliamentary majority and the executive branch, the party’s central presidency decided late on Tuesday.

A BESA representative will be appointed to manage the Ministry of Culture. The candidate is yet to be nominated.

“Even though the MPs of BESA Movement have been backing the ruling majority and the government in implementing its reform agenda, we have responded to the PM’s request to become part of the executive branch,” the leader of BESA Movement, Afrim Gashi, told a news conference.

The reform agenda, the name settlement process, opening of EU accession talks and the required cohesion for NATO membership are some of the reasons for reaching this decision, he said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that in addition to the Afrim Gashi-led BESA, DPA and Amdi Bajram’s Alliance of Roma People will join the government as its new junior coalition partners.
