Agricultural subsidies payment can begin, Constitutional Court decides

The Constitutional Court at Wednesday’s session reached final decision to abolish the disputed provisions of the Electoral Code and of the Law on Prevention of Corruption, which should allow the payment of agricultural subsidies.

Court’s decision will enter into force on the day from its publishing in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia.

Last week, the Constitutional Court initiated procedure for assessing the constitutionality i.e. issued temporary measure to stop the execution of the disputed provisions that ban the payment of agricultural subsidies until the formation of the new government.

Agricultural association “Agrotikveshija” submitted the initiative to the Constitutional Court which required disputing the article of the Electoral Code, which prohibits the payment of subsidies until formation of a new government.

The Finance Ministry said that it will be able to begin payment of agricultural subsidies, when decision by the Constitutional Court is officially made.
