Ahmeti: DUI expects written offer from SDSM to commence decision-making process

The country needs solution that will generate stability, strengthen peace, inter-ethnic relations, implementation of appropriate reforms and assurance of efficient rule of law, DUI leader Ali Ahmeti told reporters late Thursday after a meeting with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

Ahemeti said he briefed Hahn about all five options his party was reviewing in regard to putting an end to the political crisis.

DUI, he said, has discussed a coalition agreement on forming a new government with VMRO-DPMNE, while the negotiations with SDSM are in progress.

On a possibility to reaching any agreement, Ahmeti said DUI expected written offer from SDSM, which would be a subject of discussion at a session of the party’s presidency.

There are no deadlines for making a decision, which requires thorough analysis considering its significance for the country, Ahmenti said.
Speaking about platform, Ahmeti said it was more like a joint statement of Albanian parliamentary parties that ‘entrusts DUI with a mandate to negotiate for the formation of a new government on their behalf.’

Although invited DPA leader Menduh Thaci refused to sign the joint statement, Ahmeti said, adding that the so-called platform did not include any plan for ‘Great or ethnic Albania’.
