Austrian-Macedonian business meetings focus on new partnerships

Macedonian and Austrian companies were discussing Wednesday opportunities for partnerships in the production of photovoltaics, cheese, mechanical technologies at a forum and separate meetings in Skopje, organized by the Economic Chamber of Macedonia and the Austrian Embassy’s trade department.

Erika Teoman-Brenner of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber said there is room for enhancement of cooperation, since most of the Austrian companies attending the forum are promoted at the Macedonian market for the first time, while those already operating in Macedonia would invest again, but additional labor force training is required.

“We are here to strengthen cooperation of Austrian and Macedonian companies. We are pleased by the large number of Macedonian firms present at the event. There is a need for training of staff and we would like to introduce the Austrian system of training carried our in our companies”, added Brenner.

Jadranka Arizankovska of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia said over 100 companies have registered to meet with Austrian counterparts, which can provide support in enhancing production through new technologies and knowledge.

“We expect our firms to use the opportunities offered through high technology and know-how transfer from the Austrian companies”, stressed Arizankovska.

Macedonia-Austria trade exchange in period January-September amounts to US$ 135,9 million, a five-percent rise compared to 2016.
