Baby tiger sent via express mail in Mexico

Workers at a Mexican postal center discovered a baby tiger packed and ready to be sent via express mail, the Associated Press reports.

Nobody noticed anything out of order until a sniffer dog alerted staff to contraband inside the package. They were shocked to find the sedated tiger cub inside.

The tiger was en route from the western state of Jalisco to the central state of Queretaro. Aside from being dehydrated, the tiger was fine, but it was sent on to an animal management center.

According to the authorities, the tiger’s papers were all in order, but it was confiscated as the attempt to post it constituted animal mistreatment.

The incident is currently being investigated, AP reports.
