Bosnjakovski: Kotzias expected to visit Skopje next week

The visit of Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias to Macedonia, expected to take place next week, is a step forward in finding a final solution to the name dispute”, Government Spokesman Mile Bosnjakovski said on Wednesday.

The government spokesman said that the exact date of Kotzias’ visit to Skopje has not been determined yet.

Asked to comment on Prime Minister Zoran Zaev’s remarks at Tuesday’s joint news conference with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell, that he expected US assistance regarding the name dispute, Bosnjakovski reiterated the Government’s position that the name settlement process is brokered by the UN through mediator Matthew Nimetz.

“Any solution will go through mediator Nimetz. A solution will be reached after a mutual compromise in the interest of the two parties. The agreement we will reach will be a mutual compromise acceptable to the two parties, a dignified solution. We have not yet come to a stage that requires guarantees for an agreement,”  said Bosnjakovski.
