Bulgarian Orthodox Church declines HH Stefan’s invitation for joint observance of 1000th anniversary of Ohrid Archbishopric

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church’s governing body, the Holy Synod, voted on Monday to refuse an invitation from of the Macedonian Orthodox Church Head, HH Stefan, to attend the observance of the 1000th anniversary of the Ohrid Archbishopric.

The decision on the HH Stefan’s invitation, send to Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and state leadership for joint celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the Ohrid Archbishopric, was supported by eight out of 13 members of the Holy Synod.

Activities marking the 1000th anniversary of the Archbishopric of Ohrid will take place in Ohrid on May 27-28, the Macedonian Orthodox Church said earlier on Monday.
