Churches, religious communities urge for calm

Churches and religious communities in Macedonia jointly urged on Friday for calm, goodwill, reason in decisions and actions, restraint from acts that can jeopardize the security of the country and its people.

They urge politicians and parties to demonstrate respect and tolerance in undertaking joint and urgent measures based on legitimate regulations, towards overcoming temptations and threats.

“This is the only way to show the world that our multiethnic and multi-religious society can persevere. Our history is a testimony of this fact. Through our personal example and our deeds, for the well-being of our homeland, we should demonstrate that we are worthy successors of prior generations, true believers and patriots”, reads the appeal.

They say this is a historic opportunity to show that we truly love Macedonia, regardless of national or religious community.

“We should realize that true coexistence is achieved only in peace, by respecting diversities and rights of every individual, without violating the rights and dignity of others”, say churches and religious communities in Macedonia.
