Commemoration of the 2001 Karpalak ambush in which 10 soldiers were killed

karpalakDefense Ministry and Army representatives will lay flowers at the memorial to the 10 Army reservists from Prilep who were killed in an ambush by Albanian guerrillas during the 2001 insurgency.

The attack was organized on the Skopje – Tetovo highway, near the Karpalak point, where the military convoy of buses and trucks was attacked. Captain Nane Naumoski (48), lieutenant Saso Kitanovski (40) and soldiers Goran Minovski (29), Erdogan Sabanovski (21), Ljubo Grujoski (32), Branko Sekuloski (43), Darko Veljanoski (27), Pece Sekulovski (31), Vebi Rushitovski (26) and Mirko Despotovski (27) were killed in the attack.

A delegation led by Dragan Nikolic, State Secretary in the Defense Ministry, will visit their memorial at the site of the ambush, and in downtown Prilep.
