Election campaign ends, silence starts at midnight


The 20-day election campaign ends Friday at midnight and silence starts for the local elections scheduled for October 15.

SDSM-led coalition “Life in Macedonia” is to wrap up its campaign by meeting the citizens of Debarca and Vevcani and rallies in Struga and Ohrid.

VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition “For Better Macedonia” is to hold its final rally in Skopje.

DUI is scheduled to hold rallies in several municipalities, while BESA Movement organises meetings with citizens of Cair.

The voting starts on Sunday (October 15) at 7am and lasts until 7pm. The 6th local elections in Macedonia are scheduled for October 15, administered in 3,480 polling stations in 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje.

Sick and disabled people, imprisoned and detained persons will vote one day prior to local elections, on Saturday (October 14).

1,814,644 citizens are eligible to cast their votes at upcoming local elections.

In the voter lists, 1,735,682 voters are registered, 77,071 voters are temporarily working or residing abroad, 1,882 are in prison or detained while nine are registered as internally displaced persons.

Candidates for mayors and councillors from 19 parties and coalitions and 64 others from groups of voters participate at the local elections in Macedonia.

The second round is set for October 29. The election campaign for the second round ends on October 27 at midnight.
