Erdogan: Macedonia can count on Turkey’s friendship


Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has met in Ankara Wednesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where they confirmed good political and economic relations, as well as opportunities for utilization of the potentials both countries have.


PM Gruevski congratulated Erdogan on his recent election win and wished him success in leading the country. He stressed that bilateral relations are excellent, while frequent political meetings confirm the friendship between both countries. Gruevski informed Erdogan of the economic reforms and steps Macedonia is implementing, thus emphasizing he strives for increased dynamics in the economic cooperation between Macedonia and Turkey.

PM Gruevski noted the purpose of his visit is of economic and political nature. He pointed out Turkish companies are more than welcome in Macedonia, and those who have already invested are satisfied with the investment conditions offered, expressing his interest in enhanced cooperation and friendship.


Turkish President Erdogan voiced satisfaction of Gruevski’s visit, underlining he supports Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

“Turkey is your friend on that journey,” Erdogan said.

Both interlocutors exchanged opinions on various regional matters and experiences of the reforms in education, healthcare, construction etc.
