FM Dimitrov meets with Dutch counterpart Blok in The Hague

Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov met Tuesday in the Hague with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok, who welcomed the period of stability in Macedonia stressing that ongoing progress was indispensable, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Dimitrov, who is paying a visit to the Netherlands, elaborated the measures taken by the Macedonian government both at home and abroad and their interconnection. EU integration is the best transformation tool in support of the reform process, he stated.

“We fully accept the Dutch ‘strictness and fairness’ approach to EU integration. It is a formula that Macedonia needs to be transformed into a stable European democracy,” he said.

The Macedonian top diplomat also addressed the members of the EU affairs committee of the Dutch Parliament. The intention is not to dodge problems, but to solve them, Dimitrov concluded, stated the press release.

“Regarding EU integration, in implementing reforms more important than ‘When’ is ‘How’ and ‘What’,” he said.

Furthermore, Wim Geerts, Secretary General in the Ministry of Defence, in a meeting with FM Dimitrov conveyed messages of support for Macedonia’s accession into NATO.
