Former FM Slobodan Casule passes away


Macedonian journalist and former foreign minister Slobodan Casule passed away in Madrid early on Friday at the age of 70.

Casule, who is the son of famous Macedonian writer Kole Casule, graduated at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in 1972. He was one of the founders of TV Skopje and its correspondent from Chile and Peru, Tanjug’s correspondent from Latin America and the Carribean, Tanjug editor-in-chief in Macedonia.

He was the Macedonian Radio editor-in-chief (1990-1994) and general director of “Nova Makedonija” publishing house.

In 2001, Casule was appointed Macedonian Foreign Minister, followed by a term as MP (2002-2006).

Casule was also editor of “Fokus” weekly.
