Gruevski: We have selective justice through politically-mounted processes

At the trial in the “Trajectory” case there was a striking moment where the prosecutor herself said that there was a possibility that the tapped conversations have been manipulated and corrupted, meaning that they could be tampered with, said VMRO-DPMNE’s leader Nikola Gruevski before the Criminal Court, commenting on the allegations the prosecutor Lile Stefanova from the SPO at today’s hearing for this case.

He pointed out that it is an interesting detail, which confirms the suspicions about the tapped conversations from before.

According to Article 12, paragraph 2 of the Law on Criminal Procedure, those created materials cannot be evidence in court proceedings. But under pressure from the government, the Appeal Court in August issued the opposite decision, using them as evidence, Gruevski said.

Nevertheless, as he pointed out, our defenders have asked to have them and received an answer that that’s not possible because if they get them they can get corrupted.

If the Prosecution has received them from Zoran Zaev, you are guessing what is going on, that is a political persecution in order to achieve certain political goals, Gruevski said.

Regarding the second trial in the case commonly referred to as ‘Violence in Centar’, Gruevski said that before anyone said anything, the judge herself said that the legal conditions to hold the trial were not met, due to lack of cameras that were taken for another trial of a more difficult character.

SPO representatives said that, although unlawful, they wanted to hold the hearing. They did not deny that it was unlawful and wanted to hold the trial, he said.

Gruevski said that it was a mistreatment of them all, for a politically-mounted process from the Prosecution which has political goals.

We have selective justice. We are scheduled for two hearings in one day, every week, three or four times in court. The court is under pressure to treat us as people who can get their cases closed as soon as possible and get sentences, while on the other, Zaev’s trial cannot start for two years, Gruevski said.
