Industrial production up 8.4 percent in January


Industrial production in January, compared to the same month in 2017, increased by 8.4 percent, the State Statistical Office said on Wednesday.

Industrial production in section Mining and quarrying decreased by 0.3%, in section Manufacturing it increased by 16.9%, while in section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it decreased by 28.4%.

The increase in section Manufacturing is mostly due to the increased production in the divisions: Manufacture of food products, Manufacture of beverages, Manufacture of textiles, Manufacture of rubber and plastic products, Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, Manufacture of electrical equipment, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c., Manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and Manufacture of furniture.

Industrial production by Main Industrial Groupings was higher in Intermediate goods, except energy by 15.8%, Capital goods by 26.6%, Durable consumer goods by 57.5% and Non-durable consumer goods by 5.3%, but lower in Energy by 26.1%.
