International Museum Day

Museums across Macedonia observe Friday the International Museum Day, with some joining event “European Night of Museums” on Saturday.

Today, entry will be free of charge in the Museum of Macedonia. The museum will be open up to 1 a.m. on Saturday evening, within the European Night of Museums.

The Archaeological Museum of Macedonia will promote the new rooms of its library, which has over 6,000 books.

The Museum of Natural Sciences will also observe the day with a couple of exhibits by Ivan Dulic and Darko Timotic.

The Macedonian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) will present the 2017 awards for outstanding achievements in the museum field – museum of the year, museum project of the year, museum worker of the year, and museum outside associate.

Since its creation by ICOM in 1977, International Museum Day has aimed to raise the awareness over the importance of museums and cultural heritage in the development of a society. Macedonia has been a member of ICOM since 1993.
