Limitation of sale of alcohol drinks to be revoked

The Ministry of Economy in two months’ time is tasked with preparing amendments to the Law on Trade under which the limit of the sale of alcohol after 7 p.m., i.e. 9 p.m., will be revoked.

It will also enable alcoholic drinks to be sold in kiosks that have obtained licenses, the Economy Ministry says Wednesday.

The Ministry presented the information on law amendments at yesterday’s government session, prepared after visits had been organized to companies as part of the project “Learning from the Business Community”.

The proposals have been laid out directly by the business community and are harmonized with the chambers of commerce, Mile Boshnjakovski stated.

“It’s exceptionally important that this information has been aligned and prepared by an initiative of the business community. It has been discussed by a majority of large-sized companies and with all chambers of commerce in Macedonia,” the government spokesman noted.

Under the existing law, the sale of alcohol drinks is prohibited after 7 p.m. during wintertime and after 9 p.m. in the summer. Also, kiosks are banned from selling alcohol.
