Macedonian Opera and Ballet holds traditional Vasilica concert


On the occasion of the Vasilica holiday, Macedonian Opera and Ballet will hold Thursday evening a concert with traditional Macedonian songs performed by singer Andrijana Janevska and orchestra of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet and arranged by composer Ilija Pejovski. The concert is directed by Ljupka Jakimovska and conducted by Bisera Cadlovska.

The concert titled ‘Forgotten Songs’ will mark the 70th anniversary of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet featuring songs that are rarely sung as well as two songs of the programme will be performed for the first time.

Janevska, who is the first soloist with all-evening performance of the traditional Vasilica concert, said she is honored to be selected by Pejovski to be soloist of this concert who arranged her first song ‘I love you endlessly’ performed at Skopje Festival in 1998.

Vasilica concert held on the occasion of Old New Year is launched in 1993 and is among concerts with highest attendance.

Moreover, Macedonian Opera and Ballet will also stage children’s ballet plays Snow White and Seven Dwarfs on Jan. 14 and 15 and The Nutcracker on Jan. 21 and 22.

Mozart’s Don Giovanni’s opera conducted by Gianluca Martinenghi (Italy) will be performed on Jan. 18 and Cleopatra ballet by Vasily Medvedev is to be staged on Jan. 31 and due to great interest Macedonian Opera and Ballet announced two more performances on Feb. 2 and 4
