Mickoski meets Hahn, Kurz and Tusk in Sofia

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski met Wednesday with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and European Council President Donald Tusk ahead of the European People’s Party (EPP) summit in Sofia.

The meeting with Hahn and Tusk focused on Macedonia’s perspectives, current political developments and the country’s strategic interest to join the EU, VMRO-DPMNE said in a press release.

Regarding the name dispute, Mickoski said the party’s principled positions have not changed and voiced concern over the Government’s “non-transparent way of conducting the negotiations”.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader said the party supports Macedonia’s European integration, which has been demonstrated by the active participation in the process of adopting the reform laws.

Mickoski and Tusk referred to Macedonia’s strategic objective of EU accession and enhancement of cooperation in this regard, reads the press release.
