Mickoski – Von der Leyen meeting: Deal with Greece is unacceptable because it is contrary to VMRO-DPMNE’s principles

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski met Thursday with German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen. At the meeting, the friendship between Germany and the Republic of Macedonia was emphasized, as well as the strategic determination of VMRO-DPMNE and the country for EU and NATO membership.

The current political developments in Macedonia and the upcoming referendum were also discussed. Mickoski emphasized that the Agreement with Greece is unacceptable because it is contrary to the principles of the party, and in the future it will also be a legal mechanism for blocking Macedonia’s integration into the European Union.

The president of VMRO-DPMNE reaffirmed the position that citizens have sufficient political maturity and dignity to decide how they will act on the day of the referendum.

The interlocutors agreed that Macedonia’s integration into the EU and NATO is crucial for the growth of citizens’ standard of living, as well as the reform processes in the judiciary, health and education, and the overall development of the country.
