Mickoski’s meets Diaspora representatives: The Union considers the name agreement and referendum as anti-Macedonian, anti-constitutional, illegal and repressive

A delegation of the Union of Macedonian Diaspora Associations, led by representative Igor Aleksandrov, met Tuesday with VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in connection with the referendum to legitimize the agreement between Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev. Mickoski was presented with a platform adopted at the Union’s founding meeting on September 11 in Paris.

It was pointed out that the Union considers the agreement, and the referendum, for anti-Macedonian, anti-constitutional and repressive, because:

1. It is violating internationally codified and inalienable human rights, including the right of the individual to freely maintain his ethnic and cultural identity, without state restrictions or discrimination, as well as the right to free expression, free thinking, free association, and free participation in the democratic processes of the Republic of Macedonia, without domestic or foreign state pressures, blackmail and threats.

2. It humiliates, oppresses and treats the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and Macedonians throughout the world as citizens and people of second order, for whom the rights and freedoms that belong to every member of humanity equally do not apply.

3. It undermines the basic cultural, ethical and legal values of the liberal-democratic world, in which the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and Macedonians in all parts of Macedonia aspire to integrate.

4. It undermines the constitutional foundations of the Republic of Macedonia, cited in the very introduction (the Preamble) of the Constitution, according to which the Republic of Macedonia was established as a state of the Macedonian people (and all ethnic minorities), according to the principles of the Ilinden fight and ASNOM.

5. It alienates, divides and/or transfers the sovereignty of the Republic of Macedonia to a foreign country, which is expressly prohibited by Article 1 of the Constitution.

6. It legitimizes and reinforces the repressive policies of the Republic of Greece and the Republic of Bulgaria, including historical counterfeits whose purpose is to hide the centuries-old genocidal and ethnocidal policies against the Macedonian people in those countries.

7. It legitimizes and intensifies the corrupt rule with the Republic of Macedonia of the illegitimate criminal regime that participates in the Agreement and runs the referendum in order to protect its positions, with the support of foreign sponsors.

The delegation also emphasized that the attempt to smother or redefine the Macedonian national identity, with a political majority made up of non-Macedonians and people ready to give up Macedonian national affiliation, will permanently deepen interethnic and interpersonal impatience in Macedonia, which is an obstacle to social and economic prosperity and security of the state.

The delegation urged Mr. Mickoski to lead the Macedonian people in defense from the criminal referendum, with a public call for non-participation, but expressed both understanding of the extreme domestic and internal pressures that are carried out personally against him and the VMRO-DPMNE, as well as the attempts to the massive boycott to be devalued as party manipulation, rather than reflecting the free will of the people.

We urge the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and the Macedonian people to help Mr. Mickoski in the dignified protection of common rights and interests by taking advantage of the individual right to self-determination for NOT TAKING PART in the criminal referendum, says the Union of Macedonian Diaspora Associations.
