Mogherini prepares an informal dinner for Balkan Prime Ministers

European Union diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini is planning a meeting of the Prime Ministers of six Blakan countries on May 24th, and MIA correspondent in Brussels reports that it is possible that she will expect the mandate holder Zoran Zaev to represent Macedonia. Zaev’s SDSM party is in talks with several parties that represent ethnic Albanians over the formation of the next Government, after President Gjorge Ivanov gave Zaev the mandate on Wednesday.

EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said that the invitation is addressed to the Prime Ministers of Macedonia, Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia, and if Zaev is elected by then, Mogherini’s office will invite him. If this is not the case, it is possible that Macedonia is represented by Emil Dimitriev, who heads the placeholder Government at the informal dinner.

There is a scheduling conflict with Serbia as well, where Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic was elected as President, but will only be sworn in on June 1st, and no Prime Minister has been appointed.
