Parliament to be constituted 20 days after elections


Article 63 of the Constitution stipulates that the the newly-elected Parliament composition shall hold a constitutive session within 20 days after the elections.

The Speaker from the prior Parliament composition schedules the session. If he fails to do this, the MPs schedule the session on the 21st day after the elections.

According to Article 90 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Macedonia is obliged, within 10 days from the Parliament’s constitution, to present the government mandate to the parties having the Parliament majority. Afterwards, the PM-designate proposes the Government composition within 20 days.

The Parliament elects the Government with majority votes of 120 MP seats.
