Philharmonic to tour in Spain

The Macedonian Philharmonic will be on tour in Zaragoza and in Huesca, Spain, from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2.

The orchestra will perform in the Mozart Hall at the Zaragoza Auditorium on Oct. 30, and on Nov. 1 the Philharmonic will play at Huesca’s Congress Palace.

Directing the performances will be Spanish conductor Ricardo Casero, who directed the Spain in My Heartconcert last April in Skopje.

Macedonian violin virtuoso Gjorgi Dimchevski will perform as a guest soloist with the Philharmonic.

Dimchevski is currently the Concertmaster of the Spanish National Orchestra in Madrid as well as the Concertmaster of the Queen Sofia Palace of the Arts Orchestra in Valencia.

The Macedonian Philharmonic will perform Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole in D minor, Op. 21; Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka’s Capriccio brillante on the Jota aragonesa (Spanish Ouverture No. 1), and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, also known as the Pathétique Symphony and the composer’s last.
