Police shut down 19 facilities, detain 26 in Tetovo, Gostivar controls

Twenty-six individuals have been arrested and 19 hospitality facilities have been shut down in Tetovo and Gostivar during overnight controls by the police and the State Market Inspectorate, the Ministry of Interior said on Sunday.

“The police detained 26 persons, of whom 16 Macedonian nationals for possession of narcotics and failure to produce identification documents, along with 10 foreign nationals (nine from Serbia and one from Montenegro) due to abuse of tourism stay and non-regulated stay in Macedonia, Public Security Bureau director Laze Velkovski told a press conference.

The facilities have been closed for a period of 15-30 days because they did not have fiscal cash registers and failure to issue fiscal bills, but also for unregistered hospitality operations.

An operation has also been carried out in Bitola, but no major violations have been established. In addition, 29 out of 232 drivers have failed alcohol tests in Veles.
