Preparations for construction of Skopje-Blace border crossing road kick off

Vice-Premier for European Affairs Bujar Osmani welcomed Sunday the efforts of Kosovo to complete the 55km-highway leading to Macedonia’s border, saying that preparations for designing and realizing of the section Skopje-Blace border crossing have already kicked off.

Giving a video-statement in the vicinity of Kosovo highway, Osmani said he was at the helm of the government’s group in charge of the realization of this project.

‘The Secretariat for European Affairs has provided EUR 1,3 million for designing and realizing of our part of the highway,’ Osmani said.

Highways, he said, are vital for the development of a country, but when they interconnect two neighboring states, they become bridges of friendship.

About 2,7 million vehicles crossed the Macedonian-Kosovo border via Blace. Macedonia export of goods to Kosovo is at EUR 190 million, while the import rate reaches EUR 40 million, Osmani said.

‘The figures indicate substantial surplus on our account. The additional EUR 30 million Kosovo citizens spend in Macedonia for medical services on annual basis underscores the significance of this highway for our economy,’ Osmani said.
