President Ivanov will have an audience with Pope Francis

President Gjorge Ivanov leads the Macedonian delegation that will have an audience with Pope Francis on Friday, in honor of the feast of Ss Cyril and Methodius, the sainted brothers who began the spread of Christianity in Eastern Europe.

President Ivanov is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki. Besides meeting the Pope, they will also have a meeting Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who is Vatican’s Secretary of State.

President Ivanov laid a wreath at the grave of St. Cyril in the basicilica Di San Clemente in Rome on Thursday. The President also visited the grave of St. Paul the Apostle, whose mission included preaching to and converting the Macedonians to Christianity.
