PRO promotes new web oriented tax services “e-Personal Income Tax”


Public Revenue Office (PRO) Director Sanja Lukarevska told Wednesday that electronic reporting and payment of personal income tax (PIT) will be introduced from January 1, 2018, while tax authorities will issue a pre-filled annual tax return as of 2019.

During today’s closing event of one-year EU-funded project, which enabled development of new web oriented and user-friendly tax services “e-Personal Income Tax”, Finance Minister Dragan Tevdovski said that necessary legal changes for these reforms in PRO have been already prepared and should be adopted by end of the year.

We have implemented the best European practices according to Macedonian recipe and we have developed services correspond to modern tax administrations, Lukarevska said, adding that the reforms in the PRO will drastically reduce the administrative burden.

Nicola Bertolini, Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union, said that the reforms of the public finances are key step in preparing Macedonia for EU membership.

Fiscal transparency and strengthened public internal controls should be a priority for national authorities, Bertolini underlined.

During the last year, the EU funded project “Simplification of procedures for reporting and payment of Personal Income Tax for taxpayer – individuals” with total value of 98.530 EUR was successfully implemented enabling simplification of the reporting and payment procedures for Personal Income Tax for legal and physical persons. The project also focuses on reducing the administrative burden and costs related to the calculation and payment of taxes, improved tax efficiency and monitoring of the Personal Income Tax Collection.
