Promotion of 10 new titles of Government’s project for translation of 1,000 vocational books

Ten new titles of the Government’s project for translation of 1,000 vocational books used at the best universities across the globe have been promoted Friday in Skopje.

Textbooks on medical science, transport & communications, tourism & business logistics, law, fine arts, natural & mathematical sciences, mechanical engineering and electro-­technology have been promoted at today’s event.

Since the project’s launch in 2009, the number of translated books from renowned authors has reached 907.

Upon an initiative of professors and scientists the project will resume in the upcoming years, namely 50 textbooks used at the top 10 universities worldwide will be translated and published in Macedonian language on annual basis.

“The Government is always open to good ideas and suggestions. Hence as this initiative is fully compatible with our goal ­ upgrading of the quality of the education system, we have embraced it and decided to expand the project,” Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the promotion.

Referring to the books, promoted today, Gruevski expressed belief that they would offer new perspective into the global science to all students, professors, scientists, stakeholders of the public and private sector, and would undoubtedly strengthen the resources of knowledge, skills in Macedonia.

I believe that these books will be a priority literature for the higher education institutions across the country, he added.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Spiro Ristovski also addressed the promotion.
