The basic public prosecution for fight against organized crime and corruption will act upon a criminal charge filed in relation to the shooting of the TV show ‘Macedonia’.

A suspect working at the Film Agency is believed to have caused damage to the national budget for an estimated MKD 68,000,000.

“The Financial Police Administration to the basic public prosecution for fight against organized crime and corruption lodged a criminal charge against an individual because of a reasonable suspicion of an abuse of office,” the public prosecution said Wednesday in a statement.

The individual, holding a managerial post at the Film Agency, from October 2016 until September 2017 has damaged the national budget in amount of MKD 68,000,000 by misusing office and overstepping assigned powers.

Namely, in the process of securing finances for the TV show ‘Macedonia’, the suspect has enabled the production company ‘Jadran Film’ to secure wrongful gain at the expense of the national budget, stated the statement.

In November, the basic public prosecution for fight against organized crime and corruption launched an investigation into the allegations, MIA has reported.
