Queen Elizabeth II congratulates Macedonia’s Independence Day

Queen Elizabeth II has extended congratulations over Macedonia’s Independence Day to President Gjorge Ivanov.

“It gives me great pleasure to send Your Excellency my warmest greetings on the celebration of your Independence Day, together with my best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Macedonia in the coming year,” reads the note posted on the Facebook page of the British Embassy to Skopje.

It adds that the United Kingdom and the Republic of Macedonia established diplomatic relations on 16 December 1993.

“In the 23 years since then, we have together built a partnership based on cooperation and on open and honest friendship”, says the embassy.
