Secret Ingredient wins audience award at 58th Thessaloniki Film Festival

The Macedonian feature film Secret Ingredient, directed by Gjorce Stavreski, won the audience award as part of the Balkan Survey program of the 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

This is the first time ever that an award has been handed out to a Macedonian movie in the 58-year existence of the festival.

This year, the Balkan Survey selection included 10 films from Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, etc.

“It gives me great pleasure to see that the audience award has proven to me that the film, which borders between comedy and drama, has fully touched the hearts of audiences everywhere. They laughed at the jokes, they feared for the leading character, they cheered for a happy ending. There were two wonderful screenings and I’ve heard comments in a relaxing atmosphere that convinced me how close our cultures are, especially given the fact that we are pressured by our absurd Balkan-like troubles. I hope the movie back home will be welcomed by audiences and critics alike,” the director Gjorce Stavreski has stated.

Secret Ingredient will have its premiere in Macedonia on November 19.
