Skopje Brass Quintet to perform music by the Beatles and Queen

Brass instrument renditions of well-known songs by the Beatles and Queen will be the focus of Skopje Brass Quintet’s concert taking place Wednesday evening at the Macedonian Philharmonic chamber hall.

Quintet members Aleksandar Ilijevski and Vilijam Barakovski (trumpets), Blagoja Vasilevski (horn), Nikola Ristevski (trombone), and Aleksandar Ninikj (tuba) will perform the popular “Imagine,” “Hey Jude,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Yesterday,” “She Loves You,” “Help,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” among others.

Skopje Brass Quintet was formed in 2016. The Macedonian Philharmonic announces the event by pointing out that “this is their first concert, and they have chosen the Beatles and Queen so we can hear brass instruments showcased outside their classical music repertoire.”

The quintet members are part of the core orchestra of the Macedonian Philharmonic and the Macedonia Opera and Ballet, and they also collaborate with the City Brass Orchestra, the Macedonian Radio and Television’s Big Band, and the Macedonian Jazz Musicians Association.
