The unbearable easiness of hardly achievable sustainable development

Sustainable development is a topic directly related to one of the most painful verbs in the history of linguistic programming: NOT HAVE.

As if sustainable development has realized the old Jewish proverb saying – it is more difficult to have, and then to not have …

It is a story of the planet Earth. For a moment, a very rich and beautiful planet, and for a moment an exhausted and devastated planet. The story of the deposited carbon in her womb, which has a limited number of tons and one day will be completely gone, and there will be no oil, no electricity, no technique, no internet, no planes … believe it or not!

For the very reasons, someone smart enough, has invented recycling, and for decades that works as an art of renewal. In infancy, but art still.

Actually, everything is consumed with the speed of light! The rate of consumption is greater than the speed of renewal. Or as Einstein would say, it is about parallel worlds that will never be brought into relation. In one, it is spent, in another is drawn, in third is transformed …

Even in the bathroom things are not much better. The toilet paper is consumed faster than planned, regardless of the number of hidden reserves around. First, you have napkins and kitchen wipers and paper handkerchief from the jacket on its place and then in the end – nothing! You must trot round to the nearest shop … and be careful not to take recycled paper. It does not have to be organic, but at least it is a three-ply paper. And has a hole in the middle.

Jazz is another good example. If take for example jazz musicians that make improvised compositions, and their inspiration and creative domino effects in infinite continuation and mutual play of instruments tend to never  finish, and there will always be more, and again, and even more beautiful and more genius and never same and never boring…there is the formula….? For those that have ears to hear, of course…

Ears or heart? To some even the cardiology clinics and health tourism are an interesting source of resources and bottomless wells, from which you can always pump again and again. There will always be customers who will urgently need new stent and will be prepared even to get a loan if they are out of cash (not the Croatian one) to afford the one of better quality.

Mafia. Organised crime. What? Nothing. Once a foreigner crossing the border to enter a country said he had a nose to smell the corruption in the air. I asked him – is there any indication in the periodic table of elements? How does you house smell? And is there a hole in the middle? Foreigners always are silent when they can not explain you with words that “lost in translation” means lost in resources as well.

The fees of the unemployed. One can always draw from them as from national reserves. When the forest is protected by laws prohibiting cutting firewood, normally, the movement to find loopholes increases, like in state of emergency in wars, killing is not punishable, and the frozen people that deserted and hide at home, go out at night and secretly cut street poles to use them for heating, because the law does not include prohibition of cutting poles. Poor wood that grew out of the national parks and poor convinced freelancers who invent million ancillary professions looking for alternative income. At least they could use the poles for advertising.

However, the new law on freelancers will surely have a strong domino effect – it will increase the outflow of young brains per square meter and per capita.

Nevertheless, the following gradation: drip / strain / filter / leak / overflow etc. can serve as a good catchword to the question = and who invents the law? Does the law exist for the people or the people for the law?

And while the Norwegians are increasingly investing in purchasing garbage from other countries in order to make a magical transformation into (pet) the toilet paper from the beginning of the story, some are still allowing themselves the luxury to doubt that it is the waste that hides the secret of sustainable development of civilization.
