Third China-CEE conference in Ohrid


Role of the so-called “human capital” within the “One Belt-One Road” initiative will be in the focus of the 3rd international conference of China and countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), held in Ohrid on October 6-7.

University professors from Macedonia, China, United States, Australia, Serbia, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, England, India etc will debate on the initiative’s benefits and present research in the fields of economics, language and culture.

President Gjorge Ivanov is set to deliver the conference’s opening remarks.

The conference is co-organized by the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (Macedonia), Confucius Institute, Faculty of Economics – Skopje and Institute of Economics – Skopje and University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics (Slovenia). It is also co-organized by three prominent Chinese universities: Southwestern University of Finance and Economics from Chengdu and Shanghai University of International Business & Economics from Shanghai. Furthermore, the conference is supported by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Institute for European Studies in Beijing.

“The initiative is especially important for regional cooperation and development through commercial exchange, investments and infrastructure”, say organizers.

Initiative “One Belt-One Road”, launched in 2013, involves 16 CEE countries – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. The previous conferences within the initiative were held in Ljubljana and Krakow.
