VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski said that the string of arrests of people for their involvement in the violent events of 27 April 2017 in Parliament was ‘a political repression’ demanding their immediate release.

“We demand an immediate and unconditional end to harassment and terror orchestrated by SDSM. We demand immediate release of all people affected by this classic political repression,” Gruevski told a news conference at the party’s headquarters after which he joined a protest of VMRO-DPMNE supporters outside the Criminal Court in Skopje, where those detained have been brought in for questioning.

PM Zoran Zaev and SDSM, he stressed, are brutally hitting those ‘who think and act Macedonian.’

“It is the final act of confrontation with free-thinking Macedonians and the citizens who have dared to raise their voice against the Tirana Platform and against the violence of the government. The country is at stake. This is no justice, laws and the Constitution are invalid, this is a captured state,” Gruevski said.

According to him, the parliamentary group of VMRO-DPMNE is also under attack. “Their plan is to break its standing in Parliament into pieces to pave the way for ruling MPs to pass all kinds of laws.”

It is, Gruevski said, the last possible moment to act to protect people because justice is on our side.

“VMRO-DPMNE will be at the helm of the struggle for justice and our homeland… It will be long and hard, but ultimately victory will be won,” stressed Gruevski.
