U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to travel to Macedonia

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tilerson soon will pay a visit to Macedonia, Republika has learnt from diplomatic sources.

The same sources brief that the head of the State Department plans to travel to Macedonia in July or September, and the purpose of the visit will be the name dispute and Macedonia membership in NATO.

The last time Macedonia was visited by such a senior U.S. diplomat was back in 2003. The visit was made by the Secretary of State Colin Powell, who is considered as one of the most deserving of the US recognition of Macedonia under its constitutional name.

What messages will be brought by the State Department’s first man from Washington so far is not known, but it is more than clear that a lot of dilemmas about the reasons for the violent change of the previous government and the installation of Zaev in the prime minister position will be cleared.

65-year-old Tillerson is one of the closest associates of US President Donald Trump and his national security adviser. He spent his whole working life in the oil business. Before assuming his post in the State Department, he was the chief executive of the world’s largest oil company Exxon-Mobile. He ranks 24th on Forbes’ list of The World’s Most Powerful People.
