VMRO-DPMNE says SDSM abuses police to target opposition Mayors

VMRO-DPMNE dismissed the charges filed by Veles police against Veles Mayor Slavco Cadiev as yet another attempt on the part of the SDSM party to abuse the police forces in the upcoming municipal elections on October 15th.

“The police filed another set of charges against one of our candidates for Mayor. Slavco Cadiev is charged in a frivolous case, without any evidence, facts and only with the goal to damage his reputation and help the SDSM candidate”, said Spiro Ristovski, head of the VMRO-DPMNE election headquarters. Cadiev was charged over a decision of the Veles municipal council, which he chaired, to give a Veles owned former vacation home in the village of Gorno Vranovci to the municipality of Caska, where the village is located.

Ristovski said that this case proves that SDSM is abusing the police for its own political goals, after the Mayors of Prilep and Kavadarci also faced various charges.

“They order the police to file charges over pedestrian issues in order to make our citizens believe that our candidates have done something wrong, to malign them and to sentence them before going to trial. They use the police to discourage other candidates of ours. They threaten, pressure, stage criminal cases and push lies and manipulations”, said Ristovski. He announced that both the organizers of this campaign, and its perpetrators, will be held responsible.
