VMRO-DPMNE seeks no-confidence motion against Environment Minister

MPs of VMRO-DPMNE and the For Better Macedonian coalition in Parliament on Friday filed a motion of no confidence against Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Sadula Duraki.

VMRO-DPMNE deputy Liljana Zaturoska accused the new government and Minister Duraki of negligence and irresponsible behavior citing a fire that had broken out in a landfill in Struga, the issue involving illegal landfills in Tetovo and Kumanovo, budget cuts that affect children subject to air pollution in these areas, etc.

“Not a single institution has managed to solve any of these issues, because a priority of this government and the Ministry of Environment is to hire its own party members and supporters in state institutions and to appoint directors and office holders in the institutions,” she told a news conference.

Zaturoska called the Minister’s behavior ‘irritating’. “It is a proof that the sitting minister cannot perform his duty at the helm of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning. He needs to resign so as to prevent even larger ecological catastrophes from happening in Macedonia,” the VMRO-DPMNE MP stated.

Today’s no-confidence motion is the fifth one in a slew of filings by the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE. This week, the party has sought no-confidence motions against the ministers of agriculture, labor and social policy, foreign affairs and finances.
