Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed his support to Mon Gjuraj, an ethnic Albanian baker from Belgrade, who faced threatening messages after a picture showing off an Albanian symbol was shared online.

Nationalist protesters left pig heads in front of his store after the picture, ostensibly of Gjuraj’s brother or an employee, was distributed. Albanians using the eagle sign has caused reaction in Greece, Switzerland, and elsewhere where Albanians live, but the protests in Borca were especially ugly.

I’m bothered by what happened in Borca. It is important that we protect every citizen of our counry. He did not even make the sign, President Vucic said, while referring to the sign as the “chicken sign”.

Gjuraj said that he considers Serbia his home and wants the authorities to deal with extremists.
