Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi urged retailers to stop selling packs of cooking oil and to reduce customers to no more than three bottles.

Bekteshi said that citizens are hoarding the oil after reports of shortages, and are even exporting it to Albania and other countries.

We have a huge increase in demand, it’s triple what it should be in Struga and Ohrid. The oil is exported out of the country, Bekteshi said.

He added that markets were advised that a family should be able to purchase three liters of vegetable oil a month, and that this is as much as should be sold at one time.
