The left wing Levica party blamed the newly appointed Deputy Economy Minister Kiril Kolemisevski of rank hypocrisy over his social media campaign urging friends to plant trees.

Kolemisevski planted three trees and called out three friends to do the same, but Levica notes that his law firm is representing the Canadian Euromax Resources, which hopes to build a large copper mine near Strumica. The final say over the mine is had by the Economy Ministry, and besides the hypocrisy, Levica asks Kolemisevski how is it that he is still representing the mining company while having managing the Ministry which has a say in the decision worth hundreds of millions of euros.

Kolemisevski is member of a Government which failed to implement a single point from its own plan to fight air pollution and now he entertains the public with cheap PR stunts such as planting three trees. Meanwhile, his law firm is representing Euromax against the actual environmental activists who fought against the Ilovica copper mine, Levica said in its press release.

The party shared excerpts from motions filed by Kolemisevski’s law firm to support the case that he is fighting to have the copper mine built and made operational. The Commission decided today to stop the opening of the mine, in what the environmentalists hope will be the final say.
