Consumer prices in August 2022 climbed by 16.8% and retail prices by 14.2% compared to August 2021, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.

Cooking oil and bread are more expensive by almost 50 percent, dairy products are 30 percent more expensive, and the cost of purchasing fruits and vegetables has increased by 20 percent.

The statistics report shows that a household’s expenses for the purchase of food and beverages alone have increased by more than 25 percent in one year.

Experts expect that by the end of the year inflation will exceed 20 percent.
