Macedonia reduced its greenhouse emissions by more than 34 percent since 1990

Macedonia has reduced its greenhouse emissions by 34.6 percent between 1990 and 2016, the Institute for Public Health said.

In this period, one main coal plant – REK Oslomej – largely went offline, as did the oil fired TEC Negotino. Macedonia is currently in the midst of a major energy crisis as the remaining key generator – REK Bitola – is almost out of coal due to corruption and mismanagement.
