VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski accused the Zaev Government of manipulating macro-economic data to portray a fake rosy picture of the Macedonian economy.

Each of the passing three years the Government promised to focus on the economy and to deliver a 5 percent GDP growth. It failed to get half that number. We have indications that they are cooking the books in the State Statistics Bureau. Immediately after the elections the VMRO-DPMNE led Government will nominate a new head of the Bureau and we will prove that these growth parameters they are presenting are false. They are lying to the Macedonian public but also to the international financial institutions. A fake GDP number creates fake data inputs about our debt ratio and the credit rating. We will prove these claims and there will be accountability, Mickoski said in an interview with the Macedonian Radio.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev claims that the GDP will grow by over 3 percent this year, but that he will work to get that number over 4.
