Jakim Nedelkov, head of the SONK union of public sector teachers, said that he expects to receive an offer from the Government by Friday at noon, which will determine whether the strike will continue. Nedelkov met with Education Minister Jeton Shaqiri today to discuss the requested pay increase, but did not determine how large it will be.

Shaqiri informed us that attempts are being made to transfer funds from different ministries, but couldn’t say how much and when that will happen, Nedelkov said during a Sitel TV interview.

The union leader added that they won’t accept anything less than a 18.4 percent wage increase, to help teachers keep up with the spiking inflation levels.
