The Executive Committee of VMRO-DPMNE called on the Government to urgently reduce the excise tax by 50 percent, given the unprecedented rise in gas prices.

The latest gas price increase is a fierce blow against the welfare of the citizens. The Government does nothing to respond to it. It can’t find excuses in the war against Ukraine, given that President Pendarovski claims that the Government knew about the coming developments four months ago, said party spokeswoman Marija Miteva, who added that, by reducing the excise tax, fuel prices will go down by between 9.5 and 13 denars – more than negating yesterday’s increase.

The opposition party also calls for abolishment of the value added tax to food and heating, and reduction of the VAT tax for energy to 5 percent for the rest of 2022.
