Prime Minister Zoran Zaev supported the highly controversial plan to sell off a number of publicly owned companies, including the Macedonian Post Office and much of the Macedonian Railways. His Governemnt is badly strapped for cash, and its mismanagement, and apparent criminal activities, deteriorated the situation in the Post Office, while other companies on the chopping block have been struggling for a time.

We have the initial paperwork for the Macedonian Post Office, and we also prepared the documents for the Macedonian Railways. In the coming months we will finish a feasibility study for the sale of the TEC Negotino power plant. Regardless of Covid-19, I believe we will finish these procedures in time. These are our resources who can grow and be made European and increase our GDP to ensure higher salaries for all to be more competitive on the regional and European markets, Zaev said, painting a rosy picture of his push for a major sell off.
