Albanian parties in Macedonai turned on Prime Minister Zoran Zaev demanding the urgent release of former Kosovan UCK/KLA guerrilla fighter Tomor Morina. Morina was arrested today while entering Macedonia, based on a Serbian arrest warrant routed through Interpol.

I’m irritated by the latest event where we had a former UCK soldier arrested by our country in violation of international law. He is not a citizen of Serbia but is being arrest on a Serbian warrant, which opens the issue how truly we recognize Kosovo as an independent state. These practices remind us of the time of Milosevic in 1999 and should not be in force any more, said Ejup Alimi, member of Parliament from Zaev’s coalition partner DUI, during the Prime Minister’s question time.

The Alliance of Albanians called on Zaev and the Interior Minister and Deputy Minister Oliver Spasovski and Agim Nuhiu to release Morina immediately.

The Alliance is deeply anry at the fact that the police of the “Republic of North Macedonia” arrested a freedom fighter, Tomor Morina, a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo. The road toward NATO and EU is not paved by honoring the accusations initiated by the bloodthirsty Slobodan Milosevic, the opposition Albanian party said in a press release.

Zaev insisted in Parliament that the arrest warrant was sent by Interpol and not “Vucic or Milosevic”, and added that the police is not in charge here but the courts and the prosecutor. He reminded the members of Parliament that Kosovan Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj was similarly arrested in France.

Morina was ordered into a month long detention. He is charged with war crimes against civilians. Earlier today the Kosovan Foreign Ministry issued a stern reaction following the news of the arrest.
