DUI party leader Ali Ahmeti said that he will financially contribute to the legal defense fund for other members of the Kosovan UCK/KLA guerrilla force, who are now facing war crimes charges in the Hague. This includes Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and other top Kosovan officials.

Ahmeti was a high profile member of the KLA before forming the UCK/NLA terrorist organization in Macedonia, and sparking the 2001 civil war. He himself received a pardon for war crimes in Macedonia but could yet be charged in Kosovo.

First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi, who is Ahmeti’s main confidant, announced that he will be making a donation, but did not reveral how much.
